Lumber Inspector

Responsibilities

• Examines lumber on moving chain conveyor to determine grade, species and surface measure of each board, placing a value on the board.
• Places grade marks on each individual board at production pace.
• Checks package ticket for proper amounts.
• Oversees activities of hourly slip crew employees.
• Ensures inspection slip is maintained in optimum working order.
• Reports production or workforce problems to supervisor.
• Aids with routine maintenance and minor repairs to inspection slip.
• Follows all safety guidelines to eliminate accidental injury.

Requirements

• NHLA certification, completed the Company training program, or be in an acting lumber inspector position.
• Proven leadership experience and ability.
• Effective communication, including speaking, writing, active listening, and taking instruction.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures, with a commitment to creating a safe work environment.
• Ability to effectively work in a team environment.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Able to follow established policies and procedures.
• Proficient computer skills.
• Willingness to work core hours to support the needs of our Business.
