About the role

The LUH72 Aircraft Mechanic II performs the full range of military tactical aircraft maintenance and maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty. Responsibilities include maintaining and repairing aircraft components such as flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components. Duties also involve interpreting technical documentation, leading teams on more complex tasks, and making entries in aircraft logs and records.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
  • Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and/or operation.
  • Serves as a team leader on more complex aircraft-related tasks, and makes entries in aircraft logs and records.
  • Prioritizes workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
  • Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
  • Performs limited maintenance operational checks and diagnoses and troubleshoots aircraft systems using special tools and test equipment as required.
  • Uses and performs operator maintenance on tools, special tools, and aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Solves moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as aircraft Technical Manuals, Maintenance Information and Action Messages, and all technical guidance provided through government official representatives.
  • Participates in maintenance test flights and operation checks as required.
  • May be designated as a Foreign Object Elimination/Foreign Object Debris (FOE/FOD) Program Administrator.

Requirements

  • Valid up-to-date A&P license.
  • Two (2) years aviation maintenance experience.
  • Three (3) years rotary wing aircraft experience.
  • Two (2) of the years on the assigned Mission Design Series.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Must be able to obtain Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Powerplant License or minimum five years documented as a Flexible Engine Diagnostic System (FEDS) operator.
  • Minimum of DoD EPA Refrigerant Processing Certificate Section 608 Technician Certification (Universal) or Minimum Type II.
  • Must be able to use a variety of common hand tools and measuring devices such as gauges, torque wrenches, and scales and test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment related to specific aircraft models.
  • Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.

  • Knowledge of Quality Control, Production, and Supply procedures.

  • Able to determine when faulty systems or assemblies can be corrected through repair or replacement of new parts and the nature and extent of repair required.
  • Must have skill in reading, applying, and interpreting technical data.
