LTGF Crime Analyst

About the role

The Prince George’s County Police Department is seeking a Limited Term Grant Funded (LTGF) Crime Analyst (Programmer Systems Analyst 1G) in the Major Crimes Division Gun Crime Unit.

Responsibilities

• Accesses and analyzes information from multiple law enforcement databases (e.g., Linx, NCIC, MD Case Search, Federal BOP, State BOP, Clear, RMS, LGC Mainframe, DC/VA/Federal Case Search, Gun Offender Registry, JAIC, DC SOCC reports, Federal and State Probation/Parole Releases, MD Property search, Pawn databases, Gang Database, NIBIN, E-Trace, ATF, FBI and DEA reports).
• Identifies patterns and trends in violent crime to support the development of proactive enforcement strategies.
• Maintains strong working relationships with various law enforcement agencies and other stakeholders involved in violent crime investigations.
• Facilitates the sharing of intelligence and information across agencies to ensure a unified approach to handling violent repeat offenders.
• Prepares comprehensive reports, including data-driven recommendations for action based on analysis.
• Maintains accurate and complete records of all analytical work, ensuring data is readily accessible for use in court proceedings or strategic planning.
• Engages with community stakeholders to provide information and support on issues related to violent crime.
• Participates in public presentations and educational outreach to promote awareness of violent crime prevention efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, or business administration.
• Six (6) months experience in data processing.
• Extensive experience in law enforcement investigations, with a focus on violent crime.
• Proficiency in using law enforcement databases and analytical tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify patterns and trends in complex data.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with multiple agencies.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise reports and to present complex information effectively.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
