Equity, Definition and Examples of Duties
Provide world class customer service to guests attending events at the Alliant Energy Center.
- Collect or scan tickets to validate entry for events.
- Act as a door guard to control access to various areas on the grounds.
- Check credentials or badges for verification purposes.
- Assist guests with finding their assigned seats.
- Maintain an extensive knowledge of the facility and be able to effectively answer guests’ questions.
- Greet and assist guests as they make their way through the various facilities, helping provide an enjoyable experience.
Education, Experience and Special Requirements
Any combination of education, training and experience equivalent to High school diploma.
On hire, incumbent must attend training and receive Crowd Control Manager Certification.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, or access to reliable personal transportation, or equivalent.
- Must be available and willing to work days, nights, weekends and holidays as needed based on event requirements.
- Conducts their responsibilities in a courteous, ready-to-serve manner.
- Must be respectfully assertive and tactful with customers when necessary.
- Must familiarize themselves with facility emergency operation protocols.
Background Check Statement
Some positions may require a criminal background check which can include fingerprinting due to the nature of the job's responsibilities. Wisconsin's Fair Employment Law, s. 111.31 – 111.395, Wis. Stats., prohibits discrimination because of an arrest or conviction record. However, Dane County may disqualify an applicant if the position's responsibilities are substantially related to the applicant's criminal history (e.g., the nature of the crime and its relationship to the position, whether hiring, transferring or promoting an applicant would pose an unreasonable risk to the business, its employees, customers and vendors, etc.). Physical and Environmental Work Requirements
Activities occur in a large facility and active environment. Interacts with members of general public, event sponsors and exhibitors. Must be able to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods as assignments require. Must have the ability to traverse stairs and move around the facility in a timely fashion. Must be able to use electronic ticket scanning equipment.
- Must have the ability to gain and retain a detailed knowledge of the layout of the venue, doors, exits, stairwells, elevators, and bathrooms.
- Must have the ability to learn facility emergency operation protocols.
- Must have the ability to deal tactfully with the public, event sponsors, exhibitors and fellow staff.
- Must have excellent customer service skills, be willing to deescalate stressful situations, and have the ability to problem solve.
- Must have the ability to see and hear within normal ranges with or without corrective devices.
- Must have the ability to communicate via radio.
- Must have the ability to read and speak in a clear and easily understandable manner.
- Must have the ability to work well in a group and be proactive about the needs of guests.
Bilingual Positions
Provide services in both English and the required foreign language (e.g., Spanish, Arabic, Hmong, etc.). Applicants being considered for bilingual positions will be tested during the recruitment process prior to employment. This will primarily consist of passing an oral language proficiency assessment from English to foreign language and foreign language to English, but may require additional language testing, such as written translation, if it is an essential function of the job.
