About the role
A LONG TERM SUBSTITUTE CERTIFIED SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER is needed at the Elizabeth Shelton School for grades K - 4. Valid Connecticut certification is required with an appropriate special education endorsement.
Responsibilities
- Teach students in accordance with the curriculum and special education guidelines.
- Implement lesson plans and activities aligned with state standards.
- Provide individualized instruction to meet the needs of special education students.
- Maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Collaborate with other educators, parents, and support staff to support student progress.
Requirements
- Valid Connecticut certification with an appropriate special education endorsement.
- Experience teaching special education students.
- Knowledge of special education laws and regulations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to diverse learners.
- Passion for working with children with special needs.
- Effective classroom management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in using technology for educational purposes.
