LRHPG Certified Medical Assistant - Breast Surgeons

Position Summary

Lakeland Regional Health is seeking motivated individuals to join our team in various entry-level positions. These roles are available across our primary and specialty clinics, urgent care centers, and upcoming standalone Emergency Department.

Standard Work Duties

• LRHPG Certified Medical Assistant
• Perform all duties in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate.
• Deliver quality/evidence-based patient care.
• Engage patients, patients' families and their caregivers in understanding, setting and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver.
• Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families and care team that supports their access to the medical home.
• Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, execute follow-up actions and help to integrate information into the plan of care.
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance to the provider's directives and the MA's scope of practice.
• Maintains sanitation and cleanliness of exam rooms and stocks necessary supplies or materials needed throughout the workday.
• Use case management processes to assure quality care is delivered to the Practice's patients, the patients' families and caregivers in the most efficient and effective manner across the healthcare continuum.

Competencies & Skills

• Knowledge of general principles of medical assisting, federal and state regulations and standard practice and procedures that are within the standard scope of practice for the medical assistant.
• Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety and patient confidentiality.
• Knowledge of safety practices that prevent exposure to known workplace hazards and the necessary action needed when exposed.
• Skill in applying and modifying the principles, methods and techniques of the medical assisting practice to provide ongoing patient care.
• Skill in health information management and use of an electronic medical record system.

Essential Qualifications

• High School or Equivalent
• Must be a graduate of an accredited medical assisting program
• Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant (CMA,RMAN,CCMA,NCMA)
• CPR certification - American Red Cross or American Heart Association

Nonessential Qualifications

• Associate Degree
• Strong working knowledge of the function and use of electronic health records
• Knowledge of HEDIS/Star measures
• Knowledge of medical insurance, billing and coding (including ICD-10)
