Position Summary

Lakeland Regional Health is a leading medical center in Central Florida. As the only Provisional Level 1 Trauma center for Polk, Highlands, and Hardee counties, and the second busiest Emergency Department in the US, we are dedicated to providing high-quality care to our diverse patient population. Our facility is licensed for 910 beds and handles over 200,000 emergency room visits annually, along with 49,000 inpatient admissions, 21,000 surgical cases, 4,000 births, and 101,000 outpatient visits.

Standard Work Duties

• Actively participates in team development, achieving dashboards, and in accomplishing department goals and objectives.
• Absorb and assist in delivering quality care to providers, patients, patients' families, and caregivers.
• Be aware and sensitive to cultural differences between patients and co-workers.
• Demonstrate personal responsibility and respect for patients, their families, and co-workers in professional appearance.
• Perform job related duties such as vital signs, phlebotomy, assisting with procedures as trained, and EKG.
• Engage patients, patients' families, and their caregivers in understanding and monitoring patient self-management care plans in a manner that is culturally and linguistically appropriate to the patient and caregiver.
• Collect and document data related to patient needs.
• Develop and maintain relationships among patients and their families, care team that supports their access to the medical home.
• Provide timely communication with patients, make inquiries, and execute follow-up actions between disciplines.
• Participate in continuing professional growth through attendance at workshops and professional in-services and through independent research and reading to include timely and respectful communication skills.
• Demonstrates a complete understanding of their assigned specialty's service line practices and standards.
• Maintain Joint Commission standards.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

• High School or Equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting (MA) program.

Other Information

• Certifications Essential: BLS and MA certification (CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA).
