LR256989 Advanced Nurse Practitioner - Walk In Service (GMED)

About the role

The WalkIn Service, hosted by the Out of Hours Primary Care (GMED) team, is seeking to recruit an Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) to join our dynamic and responsive urgent care service. WalkIn services provide same‑day access to urgent primary care without the need for a booked appointment and form part of a major national pilot programme funded by the Scottish Government. This innovative programme is helping to shape future models of urgent and unscheduled care across Scotland. This role would suit an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is confident working autonomously in a fast‑paced urgent care environment, and who is motivated to contribute to the ongoing development of a new service model.

Responsibilities

• Provide advanced clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and onward referral for patients across the age spectrum presenting with undifferentiated illness, minor and major injury, and urgent medical conditions.
• Work closely with GP colleagues, the Clinical Lead, Service Manager and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, safe and person‑centred care.
• Practise with a high level of clinical autonomy, supported by evidence‑based practice, NHS Grampian policies and professional guidelines.
• Play an active role in service development, audit, education and clinical leadership within the WalkIn Service.
• Contribute to service cover arrangements, including colleague annual and study leave, with flexibility for evening and weekend working.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
• Educated to degree level, with PgDip or MSc Advanced Clinical Practice.
• Hold the Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification.
• Experience working in urgent care, primary care, minor injury or equivalent settings.

Pay

Salary: Band 7 (Agenda for Change), with enhancements for unsocial hours.
