About the Role
Administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in accordance with the needs of the age population served, as defined in the department's scope of service.

Responsibilities
- Collects data essential to patient assessment and reports deviations from normal to the physician.
- Completes collection of assessment data.
- Assists with reassessing patients according to unit standards or hospital policy and reports changes to the RN or physician.
- Documents patient information 100% of the time.
- Performs patient care according to standards and patient needs.
- Collects data from patients and families.
- Provides education to patients and families.
- Documents medication administration, treatments, interventions, and unusual occurrences accurately.
- Administers medications as ordered by the physician.
- Performs treatments as prescribed by the physician.
- Directs and assists ancillary nursing staff with assigned duties.
- Monitors IVs and blood for proper functioning and reports side effects to the RN or physician.
- Starts IVs as needed and ordered by the physician.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current Louisiana LPN licensure.
- One-year experience preferred.

HIPAA Requirements
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to HIPAA regulations, including but not limited to: medical records (paper and electronic), patient demographics, lab and radiology results, surgery/appointment schedules, patient financial and billing information, patient complaints, patient location, religious beliefs, and research information.

Safety Requirements
- Maintains knowledge of and adheres to safety practices, including but not limited to: incident reporting, handling of wastes, sharps, and linens, PPE, exposure control plan, hand washing, environment of care, patient identification, medication administration, order receipt, clinical alarm monitoring, and blood sample collection.
