LPN - Wound Care, Per Diem

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients as described in unit based competencies, policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other staff members to provide bedside patient care, implementing the interventions identified in the plan of care, as directed by RN.
  • Ensure appropriate patient care documentation.
  • Implement and assure compliance with wound center and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Maintain familiarity with regulatory standards.
  • Report quality of care issues to staff RN or Program Director.
  • Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Communicate with all team members regarding therapeutic interventions.
  • Communicate with staff and physicians to ensure quality of care.
  • Maintain and demonstrate competency in BLS (Basic Life Support), infections control, safety and all unit required skill review.
  • Participate in own employee feedback session identifying individual strengths and areas of growth.
  • Identify limitations in own skill/knowledge and seek consultation from available resources to improve them.
  • Demonstrate commitment to ongoing professional growth and education.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific)

  • Ability to cost effectively utilize resources and supplies.
  • Ability to work effectively and communicate frequently with other members of the patient care team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, providing appropriate and accurate communication nonverbally, verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent customer service attitude with effective listening skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate positive, supportive and understanding behavior when in contact with guests (patients, visitors, clients, physicians, employees, volunteers, students, etc.).

Education And Experience

  • Graduate of an approved LPN program.
  • Current NYS Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Current certification in CPR.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling during the work day.
  • Requires assembling, using, and maintaining departmental equipment.
  • Exposure to patient blood, urine, and other body fluid samples along with other hazardous materials.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $25.25-$30.30/hr

Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
