Major Accountabilities / Critical Responsibilities
- Reviews schedules and organizes patient flow; greets patients, documents their concerns, questions, and accompanies them to exam/procedure rooms.
- Initial patient interview; reviews patient medical profiles, and documents all required charting in EMR/manual charting as appropriate.
- Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs, weight. Reports any abnormalities to the physician.
- Aids with specimen collection and testing as necessary. Documents pertinent information.
- Assists patients as necessary, including walking, transferring, and dressing.
- Provides minor treatment and assists physicians with minor procedures.
- Provides education as needed based on the evaluation of the patient’s or family’s learning needs.
- Schedules patient testing and pre-certifies tests if insurance requirements are applicable.
- Responds to telephone messages from patients, physician offices, etc.
- End of month checks for expired supplies and medications. Stocks rooms/maintains inventory of exam/procedure rooms.
- Orders supplies as needed. Cleans exam/procedure rooms after each patient.
- Prepares exam/procedure rooms for the next patient and ensures physician needs are met.
- Notifies patients of test results (as per physician instructions) and follows up as necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Valid license as Licensed Practical Nurse in CT.
- BLS Certification.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Minimum of 2 years previous experience in a similar position preferred.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
