About the role

The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) provides delegated aspects of direct patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include making decisions based on education, experience, State Board of Nursing Rules, and hospital/departmental policy and procedures. The LPN/LVN demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning for safe care delivery, maintains clinical competencies, delegates tasks appropriately, and supervises assigned personnel.

Aspects of care include physical examination and data collection, ADLs, patient education, medication administration, peripheral IV therapy, discharge planning, implementation of physician’s orders, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Perform physical examinations and collect patient data
• Administer medications and peripheral IV therapy (antibiotics and some IV fluids; no IV pain meds)
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs)
• Provide patient education and support discharge planning
• Implement physician’s orders and document care
• Delegate patient care tasks based on staff education and experience
• Float within scope of practice and clinical competency (Rehab and Med/Surg)
• Participate in on-call duties as required for census flex (prior to shift start if census is low)

Requirements

• Active LPN/LVN license
• BLS certification required
• IV certification required (facility will accept any valid certification)
• 1 year minimum experience required; 2+ years preferred
• Ability to work nights (6:30 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Floating and call duties required (call frequency varies)

Schedule

• 13-week contract, starting 9/7/2026
• Night shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM
• Patient ratio: 1:8
• Blocked scheduling may be accommodated (must specify in submission)
• No 48-hour guarantees approved
