LPN Specialist II - Urgent Care South - Full Time

About the Role

This position involves identifying and evaluating patient needs through telephone triage, administering medications including injections, and documenting care in patient medical records. The role also includes patient and family education, emergency response, and facilitating patient flow in a physician's office.

Responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate patient needs via telephone triage.
• Administer medications, including injections, and document medication given or prescribed by the ordering physician.
• Identify patient and family education needs and provide instruction.
• Recognize and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
• Adhere to Clinical Services policies and procedures for documenting patient medical records.
• Facilitate patient flow to maintain the integrity of the physician’s office.
• Administer intradermal, subcutaneous, and intramuscular injections.
• Communicate effectively with clinic staff, providers, patients, call center representatives, receptionists, and other departments.
• Assist with procedures as needed, potentially involving exposure to live vaccines, blood-borne pathogens, and bio-hazardous materials.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Requires extensive walking, standing, moving, and manipulating equipment.
• Lifting and moving objects, equipment, and supplies (typically 20-25 pounds daily, occasionally up to 30 pounds).
• Ability to push/pull patients in wheelchairs.
• Frequent movement between the Care Team station and exam rooms.
• Constant use of computers and office productivity machinery (e.g., nebulizer, fax machine, copier, printer).
• Exposure to live vaccines, blood-borne pathogens, and bio-hazardous materials.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Practical Nursing with an active Florida state LPN license.
• CPR certification.
• ACLS & PALS required within the first 90 days of employment.
• IV certification required within the first 90 days of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Two (2) years of experience in ER, critical care, urgent care, or a hospital setting.
