Clinical/Technical Responsibilities
- Aid in scheduling procedures/surgeries according to protocol.
- Contact insurance companies to secure necessary authorizations for procedures, surgeries, medications, and tests as needed.
- Communicate with patients about any changes or concerns during the pre/post-operative phases.
- Track and schedule pre-operative appointments according to protocol and insurance needs.
- Inform surgeons of patient or clinician concerns during the scheduling process (e.g., hospital pre-op issues, medical clearance issues).
- Support patients in achieving their treatment goals by implementing the prescribed care plan.
- Demonstrate patient advocacy by ensuring privacy, safety, and confidentiality.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills through participation in educational and training programs.
- Flexibly respond to changing demands.
- Prepare for clinic visits.
- Conduct pre-visit preparations.
- Respond to environmental responsibilities, including setting up instruments and equipment, cleaning exam/procedure rooms, and restocking supplies.
- Perform clinical duties such as checking vital signs, preparing for physical examinations, verifying prescriptions, disposing of biohazard waste, conducting laboratory procedures, performing EKG tests, completing lab draws, providing emergency first aid, administering immunizations and injections.
- Monitor and manage vaccine, medication, and laboratory supplies, coordinating with hospital departments as necessary.
- Manage financial responsibilities, demonstrating effective time management skills, participating in performance improvement activities, and utilizing resources efficiently.
- Ensure the proper use of Community Memorial Hospital's property and supplies to maximize cost-effectiveness, conserve resources, and minimize waste.
- Review e-bills and capture all services provided.
Clinic Stakeholder Responsibilities
- Actively participate as a member of the healthcare team.
- Treat patients, families, visitors, and co-workers with courtesy and respect.
- Provide constructive feedback to colleagues as appropriate.
Clinic Financial Responsibilities
- Show effective time management skills.
- Participate in performance improvement activities by identifying opportunities for improvement, offering solutions, and supporting changes.
- Utilize resources efficiently.
- Use Community Memorial Hospital's property and supplies appropriately and prudently to maximize cost effectiveness, conserve resources, and minimize waste.
- Review e-bills and capture all services performed.
Clinic Health Information Management Responsibilities
- Offer and receive feedback on personal performance and patient care delivery.
- Use feedback to improve practice and patient care.
- Ensure patient information is kept private and confidential.
Job Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program is required.
- Previous nursing and ambulatory surgery experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, pain management, emergency situations, fire safety, performance improvement, and patient confidentiality is required.
- Skills in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques applicable to injections, universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods are essential.
- Knowledge of Electronic Medical chart, Meaningful use reports, and Performance Improvement reports is required.
- Ability to perform health information management tasks, such as charting patient data, is necessary.
- Current NYS licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse is required.
- Current BLS certification is required.
