LPN School Based Special Needs Clinic -PARMA

About the role

At PSI, nurses in schools are part of the school community. You’ll have clear expectations, structured support, and consistent schedules while providing one-on-one care that helps medically fragile students safely attend school and participate in learning. You may work with special needs students in the clinic or as a float, provide care in the classroom if needed, and collaborate with a school team environment where student care plans and health protocols are in place. PSI support is available for clinical or workflow questions. As a school-based nurse supporting a medically fragile student, you help ensure the student can safely attend school, participate in classroom activities, and thrive academically, providing reassurance to families and allowing students to fully engage in their educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and medical interventions according to care plan
• Monitor health status and respond to illness or injury
• Support prevention of communicable diseases and maintain a healthy school environment
• Collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers
• Maintain accurate health records and documentation
• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines

Requirements

• Active Ohio LPN License (Required)
• Knowledge of HIPAA and confidentiality standards
• Pediatric or school health experience preferred but not required
• Basic knowledge of medication administration and communicable disease prevention
• Current or willingness to obtain BLS / CPR / First Aid certification (role dependent)
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to student care
• Must have or be willing to be trained on tube feeds, straight caths, ADLs, toileting needs, seizures, and type 1 diabetes management
