About the role
UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Truman Health Services - Roswell team. This opportunity is a full-time (1.0 FTE) day shift opening located in Roswell, New Mexico. Minimum $48,182- Midpoint $60,233* Salary is determined based on years of total relevant experience. Salary is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.
Responsibilities
- Assist in patient needs assessment; take vital signs and medical history; assist in triage, admission, transfer, and discharge processes; develop patient care goals.
- Administer medication and monitor results, including approved IV medications according to policy, via the Five Rights; document and communicate clinical findings.
- Perform treatments at the nursing level; assist medical staff with complicated procedures; follow up on diagnostic results.
- Orient new staff; participate in patient care conferences; participate in quality assurance activities.
- Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients.
- Ensure maintenance of patient areas; assist in reception areas, as needed; ensure patient files include all diagnostic reports; document all patient care activities.
- Follow patient safety-related policies, procedures and protocols.
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve patient safety through questioning of current policies and processes.
- Identify and report/correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses in a timely manner.
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care by asking questions and reporting treatment or situations that they don't understand or may "not seem right."
- Perform miscellaneous job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) accredited program graduate.
- No minimum experience required. Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirements may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
- LPN Licensure current with the New Mexico Board of Nursing or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by State of New Mexico.
- BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers (with hands on training), must be obtained within 30 calendar days of date of hire.
Qualifications
- Of a Licensed Practical Nurse
- Experience providing nursing and/or case management services to medically and socially complex populations.
- Experience working with the LGBTQ+ community.
- Experience working in a community based multi-disciplinary setting.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
