About the role
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a crucial role in our hospital's mission to provide high-quality care that transforms lives. Reporting to a Registered Nurse, this position integrates company values into daily practice and supports the care team in achieving excellence.
Responsibilities
- Provides skilled nursing care to patients as ordered by the physician and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Implements orders for medications and treatments as ordered by the physician and in accordance with the nursing care plan.
- Communicates with the Registered Nurse to assist in developing an individualized plan of care for each patient.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and seeks guidance when necessary.
- Reports to the supervisor on patient care rendered, problems concerning patients' needs, and resolution to those needs.
- Identifies patient problems and potential risks, contributing to the development of interventions.
- Aids in identifying patient’s learning needs and reinforces self-care and other techniques.
- Accurately designates applicable charges to individual patients using the hospital’s established system.
- May be required to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.
- Maintains a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.
- Assesses risks for safety and implements appropriate precautions.
- Complies with safety and infection prevention standards.
Requirements
- Minimum Education & Experience: Two years’ experience in inpatient hospital setting, inpatient rehabilitation experience preferred.
- Required Licenses, Certifications, And/or Documentation: Current state license as a Licensed Practical Nurse required. Current BLS certification required.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of and adherence to current nursing theory and practice and infection prevention standards of practice.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards to ensure adherence to all standards set forth by state and accrediting agencies of TJC and CMS.
- Knowledge of clinical operations and procedures, and utilizes proper policies, procedures, and guidelines in caring for patients.

Physical Requirements
- A significant amount of standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time.
- Gross and precise motor functions.
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to bodily fluids.
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care.
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard.
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
