About the role

The Recovery Center at Sarpy is a 16-bed facility serving residents 19+ with serious mental illnesses experiencing related difficulties. This role involves providing recovery-focused services including medication administration, direct care, and coordinating care plans.

Responsibilities

• Provides safe and appropriate administration of medical treatment (including medications) as prescribed by the physician.
• Ensures the safe, effective, and efficient implementation of direct care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and standards of care.
• Collects data relevant to members' care and develops and implements nursing care plans.
• Demonstrates knowledge of crisis management and intervention.
• Transcribes physician orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Administers medication and treatments to members served.
• Attends and participates in multidisciplinary team meetings and treatment planning meetings.
• Coordinates and participates in counting medications and giving reports at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Notifies the prescriber and nursing supervisor of any changes in behavior or condition.
• Documents the progress of members served toward their Recovery Plan goals.
• Acts as a team member, providing input via reporting observations and concerns and asking appropriate questions.
• Implements physical crisis and de-escalation techniques.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited LPN program and current LPN licensure in state of operation.
• Current CPR/BLS certificate.
• At least 18 years of age.
• CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certified on date of employment or within 60 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment.
• Valid driver license, motor vehicle clearance, and proof of auto insurance required at time of employment and must be maintained throughout employment.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with population to be served and/or work in a similar program setting is preferred.
• Understanding of psychiatric illness and its treatment, and knowledge of psychotropic medication.
• Ability to review and implement Recovery/Treatment plans.
• Ability to support medical and psycho-social care of members served.
• Ability to administer oral and injectable medications.
• Ability to act as a team member and provide input via reporting observations and concerns and asking appropriate questions.
• Ability to review and implement members served recovery treatment plans.
• Ability to implement physical crisis and de-escalation techniques.

Skills

Benefits

• Shift differentials for hourly staff (6% for PM Shift, 10% for Overnight Shift).
• Weekend Shift differentials for hourly staff (5% for Weekend AM Shift, 11% for Weekend PM Shift, 15% for Weekend Overnight Shift).

Pay

Expected starting wage range for LPN is $26-30 per hour PLUS 6% Shift Differential which brings the total hourly rate to $27.56 to $31.80 per hour. Starting pay is commensurate with relevant experience above the minimum requirements.

Schedule

Shifts Available: Full-Time 32 hours a week, 3:00pm - 11:30pm ONSITE. This role could also be 24 hours per week which is Part Time with benefits.

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit, squat, kneel, twist, push, pull and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently walk, stand, bend, reach and do simple and power grasping. The position requires manual deviation, repetition and dexterity as well as Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Hospital Waste, Chemical & Infectious).
