Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Experience: Prior clinical and recent mental health or gerontological experience is preferred
• License/Certification: Current State NURSING Licensure

Skills

• Must possess effective written, verbal and nonverbal communication skills, stable emotional makeup, creative, caring, able to work under stressful conditions.
• Professional conduct, honoring boundaries, setting limits and maintaining confidentiality is a must.
• Must be able to communicate effectively with staff, families, physicians, and residents.
• Must be able to follow state licensure guidelines in relation to all aspects of the medications.
• Must be able to make appropriate decisions in difficult situations.
• Must demonstrate good judgement.
• Must be able to accurately assess the residents’ health status.

Requirements

• Must be able to meet physical demands of lifting and moving more than 50 pounds, walking and standing for long periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Administering medication as prescribed
• Implementing the plan of care
• Maintaining a safe environment
• Carrying out doctor’s orders
• Providing complete documentation
• Providing coaching, supervision and assistance to the direct care staff
• Providing and supervising basic care for residents
• Role modeling appropriate interactions with residents, staff, and families to assure a consistently therapeutic environment

Schedule

Some weekends and holidays are required.
