LPN/MA, FPG Sandusky Healthcare Center: FT Days
About the Role
Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care and providing information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from clinic services. Assigned to a specific practice or urgent care but will need to assist in covering other practice sites.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patient flow
- Obtain and document patient vitals
- Document current medications and chief complaint
- Perform technical laboratory functions including phlebotomy, EKG, and stress testing
- Monitor, track, and charge medical equipment
- Schedule procedures and tests
- Greet patients, vendors, and other visitors; notify appropriate staff of their arrival
- Operate switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls
- Obtain current and accurate insurance information each visit; verify coverage through insurance company
- Obtain pre-certifications or prior authorizations as needed
- Maintain daily accurate records for timely billing of accounts
- Notify patients of account status and payments due using collection techniques to assist in keeping accounts receivable current
- Perform as a Medical Scribe from time-to-time
- Prepare and present reports to management as requested
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited program of practical nursing with current licensure in the state of Ohio OR High school graduate with Medical Assistant certification required
- Experience in a medical office or urgent care setting preferred
- Current CPR certification
- Proficient in the use of personal computers with strong typing skills
- Skilled in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word is desired
- Valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and insurable under Firelands auto policy
- Proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request

- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with medical and administrative staff, patients, co-workers, and insurance companies
- Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
- Skill in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving, and decision making
- Skill in analysis and interpretation of data, and preparation of reports
- Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques, appropriate use of universal precautions, and appropriate charting of patient data
- Skill in point of care testing, vital signs, EKG, and other clinical aspects of the office
