Responsibilities
- Affirms residents on admission and periodically.
- Documents assessments appropriately.
- Assesses resident's condition and nursing needs, implements appropriate actions.
- Adequately assesses and reassesses pain, utilizes appropriate pain management techniques, educates residents and families about pain management, documents changes, and follows up on interventions.
- Administers medications following the seven (7) medication rights, reducing the risk of errors.
- Performs all aspects of resident care to optimize safety and reduce medical errors.
- Maintains a culture of safety and quality, meets documentation standards, notifies physicians of changes, and follows through on physician's orders.
- Gives thorough verbal reports to incoming shifts, addresses information from previous shifts, residents, or families regarding concerns, implements the plan of care based on assessments and interdisciplinary goals, treats residents and families with respect and dignity, identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs, supervises other healthcare team members, delegates effectively, leads the Care Partners, participates in staff training, remains calm in emergencies, consistently involves residents and families in planning, follows policies and procedures, demonstrates genuine interest in adults in later years, is motivated and organized, and communicates the facility's mission, ethics, and goals.
Qualifications
- Adheres to dress code and maintains neat and clean appearance.
- Completes annual education requirements.
- Maintains regulatory requirements.
- Maintains resident confidentiality.
- Reports to work on time and within schedule, completes work within designated time, wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly, completes inservices and returns them in a timely manner, attends annual reviews and department inservices, attends monthly staff meetings, represents the organization in a positive and professional manner, actively participates in performance improvement and CQI activities, complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices, communicates the facility's mission, ethics, and goals, and is an equal opportunity employer.
