Responsibilities

  • Affirms residents on admission and periodically.
  • Documents assessments appropriately.
  • Assesses resident's condition and nursing needs, implements necessary actions.
  • Ability to assess and reassess pain, utilize appropriate pain management techniques, educate residents and families about pain management, document changes, and follow up on interventions.
  • Interprets results of waived tests, takes appropriate action, and documents results.
  • Administers medications following the seven (7) medication rights, reducing the risk of errors.
  • Performs all aspects of resident care ensuring safety and minimizing medical errors.
  • Maintains a culture of safety and quality, meets documentation standards, and notifies physicians of changes in resident condition.
  • Carries out physician’s orders promptly, gives thorough verbal reports, and follows up on shift reports, resident/family concerns.
  • Develops and implements the resident's care plan based on assessments and interdisciplinary goals.
  • Treats residents and families with respect and dignity, identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs.
  • Supervises other healthcare team members to achieve the care plan.
  • Delegates tasks effectively to contribute to excellence in the ARCP.
  • Participates in staff orientation and performance evaluations.
  • Remains calm in emergencies/stressful situations, giving residents and families a sense of security.
  • Fulfills facility policies and procedures consistently.
  • Demonstrates genuine interest in and appreciation for adults in later years of life.
  • Is a motivated, independent individual capable of organizing workloads.

Qualifications

  • Adheres to dress code and maintains neat, clean appearance.
  • Completes annual education requirements.
  • Maintains regulatory requirements.
  • Maintains resident confidentiality.
  • Reports to work on time and completes work within designated hours.
  • Wears identification while on duty and uses the punch time system correctly.
  • Completes inservices and returns them promptly.
  • Attends annual reviews and department inservices.
  • Attends monthly staff meetings.
  • Behaves professionally representing the organization positively.
  • Participates in performance improvement and CQI activities.
  • Complies with organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
  • Communicates the facility's mission, ethics, and goals.
