About the Role
A Licensed Practical Nurse at Erlanger Medical Center provides direct and/or indirect patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is part of a team-based care approach, where team members are trained to meet the highest level of function for their role according to State of Tennessee/Georgia guidelines. Responsibilities include coordinating patient care, supporting patients and families in self-management and behavior change, managing the practice's patient population, and participating in quality improvement processes and performance evaluations.
Responsibilities
- Provide care appropriate to the age of the patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
- Administer direct and indirect patient care in a healthcare office setting.
- Register and schedule patient appointments, interview patients, and record patient histories.
- Assist patients, nursing staff, and providers with procedures.
- Apply knowledge of ICD-9 and CPT coding for reimbursement.
- Utilize computer systems effectively.
- Participate in the practice's quality improvement process and performance evaluation.
Requirements
- Graduate of a state-approved LPN vocational training program.
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Tennessee.
- BLS certification completed prior to starting in the unit/department and maintained thereafter.
- Knowledge of general nursing principles and practices, organizational functions, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Knowledge of current trends and new developments in healthcare.
