About the Role

As an LPN, you will live our core values daily by helping patients in all walks of life, providing high-quality care, working with an excellent team, being a trusted resource, and impacting the community through engagement and volunteer efforts. You will also assist the front desk with clerical duties when needed.

The ideal candidate will convey a positive image of the medical office and provide professional nursing care to clinic patients under the supervision of physicians and the Office Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all HIPAA and OSHA regulations and policies.
  • Patient Care:
    • Check schedules and organize patient flow.
    • Accompany patients to exam/procedure rooms; assist with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, and preparing for exams.
    • Collect patient history and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
    • Assist physicians/nurses with various procedures.
    • Chart patient data and relay instructions to patients/families.
    • Answer calls and provide pertinent information.
  • Clerical Duties:
    • Send/receive patient medical records.
    • Obtain lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
    • Complete forms/requisitions as needed.
    • Schedule appointments and verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
    • Manage charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
  • Environmental Responsibilities:
    • Set up instruments and equipment according to department protocol.
    • Clean exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
    • Clean sterilizer according to scheduled maintenance program and keep appropriate records.
    • Order, sort, store, and restock supplies.
  • Organizational Responsibilities:
    • Respect and promote patient rights.
    • Respond appropriately to emergency codes.
    • Share problems relating to patients and/or staff with immediate supervisors quickly.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to navigate electronic medical records; EPIC experience preferred but not required.
  • High school graduation or GED.
  • Graduate of a two-year accredited nursing school.
  • Current State of Ohio LPN License.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a medical office.
  • Knowledge of basic nursing principles and protocols.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures related to infection control, environmental safety, and patient confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of medical chart reporting/records.
  • Skill in appropriate assessment and assistance techniques.
  • Skill in appropriate use of universal precautions, safe workplace, and confidentiality methods.
  • Skill in health information management by appropriately charting patient data.
  • Skill in identifying equipment problems and correcting or notifying supervisor.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member with physicians and other staff.
  • Ability to appropriately interact with patients, families, staff, and others.
  • Ability to flexibly respond to changing demands.
  • Ability to apply written instructions and standardized work practices.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.

Working Conditions

This position works in a combination of medical office and exam/procedure room settings. The office is well-lighted, well-ventilated, and spacious. There is potential exposure to communicable diseases and other conditions common to a medical office setting.

The ideal candidate must:

  • Use appropriate body mechanics techniques for patient transfers and assistance.
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds of supplies.
