About the role
Rapides Regional Medical Center is seeking a Staff LPN to join our Float Pool Full Time, Day Shift, Weekends Rotate team. Responsibilities
- Performs therapeutic and preventative nursing procedures, incorporating fundamental biological and psychological principles in giving individualized care.
- Participates in developing preventative or long-term health plans for patients and/or families.
- Provides patient’s family education that will enhance their knowledge of their disease process in order to maintain their health status and prevent advancement and/or deterioration of their disease process.
- Patient care will include all adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
- Contribute to the development of the patient’s plan of care through identification and communication of patient’s need to the RN.
- Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the following age groups; adolescent, adult, geriatric.
- Provide patient/family health education that promotes health behaviors, supports recovery and enables the patients and/or family to be involved in decisions and their plan of care.
- Able to identify potential or actual victims of abuse and understand proper reporting mechanisms.
- Able to recognize adverse drug reactions and demonstrate understanding of proper reporting mechanisms once reaction is identified.
- Able to appropriately assess the patient’s pain and involve the patient in effective management of that pain using age-appropriate interventions.
- Able to utilize patient care equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Able to promote standard precautions and follow infection control principles in patient care.
- The Unit Manager, Charge Nurse, or Nursing Supervisor is informed of changes in the patients’ conditions and guidance is solicited when appropriate.
- Achieve stated goals related to job performance.
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
