About the role
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you will provide compassionate nursing care to our residents, under the direction of a physician or Registered Nurse. Every day, you will assess resident needs and deliver essential physical or psychosocial care. To be successful in this role, you will exhibit genuine compassion for patient well-being, an understanding of your critical role in ensuring their comfort, and the patience to explain procedures, answer questions, and maintain accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
- Participates in the execution of the nursing process (which includes delegated elements of health history, assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation), and provides nursing care to patient based on a defined care delivery model
- Observes, reports and documents general and specific physical and behavioral signs and symptoms indicative of change in patient's condition in accordance with established procedures and standards of care; recognizes implications of change, takes appropriate action within designated scope of responsibility and reports to RN
- Reiterates and reinforces instructions, originally given by a physician or RN, regarding medications and their use
- Demonstrates certain tests and self-care practices (e.g. changing colostomy bag); explains proper aftercare procedures, and promotes healthy lifestyle
- Assists patient toward self-care and activities of daily living
- Prepares patient for, and performs, routine diagnostic/laboratory/therapeutic treatment procedures
- Identifies emergencies (e.g. cardiopulmonary resuscitation, Code 9, and other medical/behavioral emergencies), and initiates and/or participates in the appropriate response to situation
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited Practical Nursing program or equivalent recognized military training, upon hire
- One year of related work experience
- Licensed Practical Nurse: WA, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire (RQI)
Qualifications
- One year of related work experience in an acute care healthcare environment (preferred)
Pay
$26.62 - $44.23 /hour
