Responsibilities
- Assumes responsibilities for direct nursing care of assigned inmates/patients, adolescent through adult, under the supervision of a registered nurse or physician in a correctional facility which may house 1,300-2,000 inmate/patients.
- Serves an underserved, high-need population experiencing mental health issues, substance use disorders, and complex medical needs.
- Provides nursing services to patients in accordance with the scope of the Licensed Practical Nurse license.
- Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing.
- Currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by the State of Ohio through the Ohio Board of Nursing, including certification to pass medications and completion of an Ohio Board of Nursing IV therapy course.
- Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification or obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Physical Requirements
- May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and walk intermittently during the day.
- May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
- See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
- Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
- Ability to lift 250-300 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
- Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or body fluids.
- Requires some exposure to chemicals.
