The Urology practice manages complex oncology patients who require extensive nursing support, including symptom monitoring and coordination of care. This role is essential to supporting clinic efficiency and expanding procedural capacity, including biopsies and cystoscopies, helping to ensure high-quality care and improved operational performance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care to patients.
  • Monitor patients, record and report changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient histories.
  • Administer medications and treatments, and observe and respond to adverse reactions or side effects.
  • Perform diagnostic tests and prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Manage complex inbox messages and prior authorizations.
  • Provide patient and family education.
  • Complete authorization forms and laboratory requisitions.
  • Implement pain management assessments and documentation.
  • Adhere to the National Patient Safety Goals as outlined by JCAHO.
  • Follow Code Blue protocol.
  • Assess, plan, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the patient's progress through the entire continuum of care in conjunction with the R.N. or physician.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Accredited LPN program.
  • Florida Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Knowledge of infection control practices.
  • Computer literacy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of outpatient clinical experience.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
  • Experience with adult populations.
  • Experience with EPIC.
  • Urology background.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking, sitting, and standing.
  • Frequent talking and listening when giving instructions and explanations.
  • Frequent use of the phone, fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.
  • Constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies, and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.
  • Stooping, pushing, and pulling when moving a patient into position for treatment.
  • Reaching, handling, feeling, and manipulation of equipment into position.

Working Conditions

  • The majority of the time is spent indoors in air-conditioned areas.
  • Potential for exposure to blood and blood-borne pathogens is significant.
  • Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.
  • High exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.
  • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.

Schedule

This role works days from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.
