About the role
Assists the Health and Wellness Manager in planning, implementing, and evaluating an efficient wellness program consistent with the students' needs and Job Corps goals and objectives. Provides nursing services under the supervision of the Health and Wellness Manager.
Responsibilities
- Ensures doctor's orders are followed in the Wellness Center and the care of all patients as prescribed.
- Maintains charts on all patients and compiles medical and dental records of terminated students.
- Notifies residential personnel of released patients.
- Maintains a record of all admissions and dismissals.
- Compiles various logs, records, and reports (e.g., wellness use, examinations, and medication use).
- Maintains a record of all calls to on-call medical personnel.
- Dispenses prescribed medication.
- Assists with cursory examinations, sick call, and wellness care.
- Serves as on-call nurse when scheduled.
- Ensures performance management standards are met.
- Adheres to required property (equipment) controls.
- Maintains current knowledge in CPR and First Aid.
- Ensures a clean and safe health facility is operated at all times.
- Monitors area of responsibility to ensure timely and high-quality services.
- Works toward meeting performance standards goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
- Computer literacy with basic computer functions, email, internet, and basic programs such as Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to show patience and compassion when providing nursing services to patients who may have negative emotions.
- Detail-oriented regarding patient's vital signs, dietary needs, medication schedules, etc.
- One year of related experience and/or training.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Diploma from an accredited Practical Nursing Program.
- Current LPN License from the State.
- Current BLS/CPR Certification.
- Valid State Driver's License.
