About the role
Gastroenterology Associates of Tidewater is seeking a Full-Time LPN to join their team in Chesapeake, VA. The position works Monday through Friday from 7am to 4:30pm and does not require any nights or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Gather focused assessment data (i.e. vital signs, LOC)
- Administer topical, oral, intramuscular, subcutaneous, and sublingual medications as prescribed
- Perform IV insertion as applicable
- Respond quickly and appropriately to emergency situations
- Maintain competence in point of care testing – Blood Glucose Checks, Pregnancy Tests, CLO Tests
- Calibrate blood glucose device
- Demonstrate competence in the operation of patient monitoring and testing equipment
- Accurately document all vital signs observations
- Identify and properly report abnormal findings to the supervisor and physician
- Practice infection control and standard precautions as trained or instructed
- Maintain par levels of supplies in work area
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved LPN program
- Active licensure and maintain licensure required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Completed IV infusion therapy program required

- Communicate effectively and tactfully
- Complete necessary tasks within reasonable time frames
- Organize tasks efficiently
- Physical strength to move carts and assist post-sedation patients with ambulation
- Initiative, insight, and judgment in decision-making
