About the role

Provides safe, efficient, age-specific nursing care to patients and families using the nursing process to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and sustain optimal health status.

Responsibilities

• Functions in accordance with the professional standards of the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Completes and submits required documentation.
• Delivers effective relationship-based nursing care.
• Demonstrates technical skills in care delivery that result in safe practice and positive care outcomes.
• Demonstrates clear communication and effective collaboration to optimize patient care and clinical operations.
• Develops self and contributes to the professional practice of nursing.

• Complies with all policies and standards; refer to department-specific documentation provided during orientation for detailed duties.
• Abides by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI); annual training, the UH Code of Conduct, and UH policies and procedures govern appropriate PHI use.

Education

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse program or current enrollment in a nursing program (required).

Experience

• 2+ years of nursing experience (required for Level II).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of LPN scope of practice according to the Ohio Board of Nursing (required proficiency).
• Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed clinical therapies (e.g., stethoscopes, thermometers, sphygmomanometers, electronic monitoring devices) (required proficiency).
• Level II only: 18 CNEs per year, including 3 CNEs in clinical specialty and at least 5 CNEs in leadership; other CNE requirements agreed upon with manager.
• Level II only: 3 peer reviews, committee involvement, and 5 criteria with evidence of each.

Licenses & Certifications

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Ohio and/or Multi-State Compact License (required upon hire).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) (required upon hire).
