LPN - 1 to 1 Support for Student

About the role

The Nurse (LPN) will provide 1:1 medical and ADL support for a student with specialized health care needs. This position will also support the student with accommodations in the special education classroom for the student to access learning.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 medical and activities of daily living (ADL) support for a student with specialized health care needs
• Support the student with accommodations in the special education classroom to access learning
• Respond decisively in emergency situations
• Communicate effectively with students, staff members, and parents while maintaining confidentiality

Requirements

• Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
• Valid and current certification in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation and AED from a recognized provider (e.g., American Heart Association)
• Nursing experience in community or child health; experience in pediatrics is preferred
• Understanding of child growth and development
• Ability to think critically and react decisively in emergency situations
• Demonstrated ability to be an effective communicator

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, kneel, and talk or hear
• Must be able to respond quickly to emergencies
• Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
