About the role
The LV/Telecom Specialist at HDR will play a crucial role in designing and implementing critical infrastructure that supports the digital age and enhances the spaces where people work, connect, and thrive. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop functional requirements, system designs, and other project-related activities, ensuring that all project needs are met.
Responsibilities
- Complete a variety of project tasks including evaluating, defining, and reviewing customer needs and objectives, and ensuring these requirements are met within the project design.
- Develop complete project-related construction documents, such as SD, DD, and CD, to show design intent, project specifications, and assist with system-related activities within all construction administration (CA) activities.
- Coordinate with integrated, multidisciplinary project teams to develop functional requirements, system designs, and other project-related requirements.
- Develop alternative system design concepts, feasibility, and trade-off studies and value-added engineering when required for projects.
- Maintain knowledge of current industry product offerings and research new emerging technologies.
- Aid in problem resolution and technical troubleshooting when field support is needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Strong general engineering knowledge of either telecommunication (Horizontal/Backbone cabling and pathways) or electronic security systems (access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection).
- Meet with project clients to evaluate, define, and review customer needs and objectives and ensure those requirements are met within the project design.
- Preferred Qualifications: 4 years of related work experience, “Can-Do” and problem-solving mindset, ability to meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks independently, on schedule and under budget, strong interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written), ability to work in a high-velocity environment managing multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail and workmanship quality, strong computer skills and a proficiency or ability to work in Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite, ability to work in Revit, AutoCAD is a bonus, must be able to learn new applications quickly, knowledge of engineering drawings and design standards and practices, strong desire for continuous learning and professional education.
