About the role

We are seeking a skilled Structured Cabling/Low Voltage Technician in the Kansas City region to perform cabling and fiber installations in large-scale mission-critical environments. This role focuses on hands-on installation, testing, and documentation of structured cabling systems within data centers, ensuring reliable network infrastructure for enterprise operations.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, and test CAT5, CAT6, and fiber optic cabling in data center environments.
• Perform cable pulls, routing, dressing, labeling, and documentation.
• Work with patch panels, racks, and network equipment to ensure clean and organized installations.
• Conduct site assessments and pre-installation planning for efficiency and proper cable management.
• Troubleshoot cabling issues and perform quality assurance to ensure all installations meet technical standards.
• Follow OSHA and company safety guidelines, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
• Collaborate with other technicians and infrastructure teams on deployment projects.

Requirements

• 3+ years of structured cabling experience in data centers or enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated proficiency in fiber optic cabling, including installation, termination, splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and the use of fiber-specific test equipment such as OTDRs and power meters.
• Experience with CAT5/CAT6 and fiber optic cabling installation and termination.
• Knowledge of patch panels, racks, and cable management best practices.
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Proficiency with cable testing tools (e.g., Fluke or similar).
• Physically capable: lift 50 lbs, work at heights, and in confined spaces.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• BICSI Installer or Technician certification.
• Fiber optic installation and testing experience.
• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Experience in enterprise or data center deployments.
