Low Voltage Foreman
About the role
As a Structured Cabling Foreman, you are responsible for leading crews, executing projects, and ensuring all work meets GigaSpan’s standards for quality, safety, and performance. This is a working leadership role—you will actively participate in installations while directing your team, coordinating with project managers, and owning the success of the job from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Crew Leadership & Accountability: Lead and manage field crews, assign tasks, and drive daily production. Hold team members accountable to company standards, productivity expectations, and jobsite conduct. Train and mentor technicians to improve skill level and performance.
- Project Execution: Read and interpret drawings, specifications, and scope of work. Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades to keep projects on schedule. Identify and resolve issues in real time to prevent delays.
- Installation Oversight: Oversee installation of structured cabling systems (copper and fiber) to BICSI/TIA standards. Ensure proper termination, labeling, testing, and cable management practices. Maintain high standards for pathway systems, rack/cabinet buildouts, and overall workmanship.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure all work meets GigaSpan quality expectations and passes certification requirements. Review test results (Fluke, OTDR, etc.) and maintain accurate documentation. Enforce safety protocols and jobsite compliance at all times.
- Planning & Communication: Plan material needs ahead of time and coordinate with project managers. Provide clear, consistent communication on job progress, issues, and manpower needs. Maintain strong working relationships with clients and site personnel.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of structured cabling experience with proven leadership or foreman-level responsibility.
- Certifications: BICSI Installer 2 or Technician preferred (or ability to obtain).
- Leadership: Ability to lead crews, enforce standards, and drive accountability on the jobsite.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of copper and fiber systems, testing equipment, and industry standards.
- Communication: Clear, direct communication with crews, project managers, and clients.
- Reliability: Consistent attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to take ownership of projects.
