We are currently expanding our Network Infrastructure Design & Deployment (NIDD) team within Amazon Dedicated Cloud (ADC) and are looking for a proven subject matter expert (SME) with experience in designing and planning copper and fiber network solutions, cabling pathways and vision to take AWS Data Centers to the next level. Responsibilities

• Work with engineers and managers company-wide to develop solutions for the physical layer.
• Develop pathway, space, and cabling designs, along with specifications for construction and permitting.
• Engage with industry suppliers and manufacturers to define product requirements and explore emerging technologies.
• Ensure timely delivery of scalable fiber optic & copper plant designs and specifications.
• Review and approve ICT pathway, cabling and equipment submittals.
• Identify and respond to risks and high-priority issues rapidly and effectively.
• Support new technology and design activities that improve infrastructure quality, reduce cost and installation time.
• Travel 20+% to review projects and coordinate with onsite personnel and contractors at AWS' Data Centers.
• Conduct quality assurance audits at project sites, collaborate with project managers and contractors, and implement corrective actions to resolve issues.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of critical data center equipment.
• Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities.
• 5+ years' experience developing design documentation (plans, specifications, etc.) for construction and/or permitting.
• 5+ years working experience with fiber optic components, cabling, and interconnect products, technologies, and standards.
• 5+ years' experience marking building design sets using Bluebeam Revu or similar software for construction and permitting purpose.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting construction specifications and drawings for all domains.
• BICSI RCDD Certification or internationally recognized equivalent (e.g. CDCDP, DCDC, etc.).
• Ability and willingness to think outside of the box to find creative and innovative solutions to reduce costs while maintaining or improving quality, reliability, or maintainability.

Pay

Base salary range: $111,300 - $186,100 USD annually (USA, MD: Jessup, Laurel, Severn; USA, VA: Alexandria, Culpeper, Herndon, Warrenton). Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
