About the role

The Field Service Technician I plays a vital role in ensuring the accurate installation of low voltage systems. This position involves efficient teamwork and independent project execution, as well as delivering fundamental customer training on system operations. The role demands technical proficiency, effective communication, and a dedication to precision to guarantee successful implementation and functionality of systems.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews project quotes and scopes before beginning onsite execution
  • Inspects installation sites, studies work orders, architectural plans, and comprehensive installation methods
  • Installs low voltage cabling, devices, and systems, adhering to precise specifications, relevant codes, and industry practices, as directed by a supervisor
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses issues with installed systems
  • Conducts routine maintenance and inspections of systems as needed
  • Responds promptly to service calls and customer inquiries
  • Travels extensively across the Midwest, occasionally on weekends; home most weekends
  • Provides excellent customer service and maintains customer satisfaction

Requirements

  • Hands-on/field experience from previous work
  • Working knowledge of basic IT networking, configurations, and IP addressing
  • Ability to read architectural drawings
  • Team management or supervisor experience
  • Previous experience completing projects within scope
  • Previous experience with service ticketing processes
  • Knowledge of fire, CCTV, intrusion, or emergency nurse call systems (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid US Driver’s license
