Low Voltage / Access Control Technician

About the role
The Field Service Technician Level II will perform all essential responsibilities of a Level 1 installer while demonstrating advanced skills, training, certifications, and leadership abilities to effectively lead installation teams. This role involves expertly configuring and programming a wide range of devices and management platforms, overseeing system commissioning, and delivering comprehensive customer training at a basic operations level.
Responsibilities
- Execute all Level 1 installer roles and responsibilities, following comprehensive documentation to uphold the highest standards of installation and service.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills in handling project and service tickets, ensuring streamlined interaction and prompt updates.
- Exhibit a deep understanding of project scopes and service expectations, taking full accountability for assigned tasks and delivering outstanding results.
- Assume leadership responsibilities by delegating tasks within the team’s capabilities and fostering a collaborative environment.
- Mentor Level 1 installers when leading a team, maintaining high standards, and actively seeking their feedback for continuous improvement.
- Establish and maintain regular communication with Project Delivery Coordinators, Project Managers, and customers as needed for seamless project execution.
- Showcase expertise in working with nurse call systems, card access systems, and video surveillance products.
- Pursue ongoing professional development, particularly in leadership and communication skills.
- Perform Factory Authorized Testing (FAT) of products before installation to ensure quality and performance standards.
- Demonstrate proficiency in system configuration and successful commissioning of systems for reliable client solutions.
- Accept additional job duties as assigned to support business operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a previous construction trade.
- Advanced knowledge of electricity (high and/or low voltage).
- Hands-on/field experience from previous work.
- Basic telecommunication knowledge (TCP/IP, general networking, computers, VoIP, etc.).
- Ability to identify and use common low voltage cabling.
- Working knowledge of basic IT networking, configurations, and IP addressing.
- Ability to read architectural drawings.
- Team management/supervisor experience.
- Previous experience completing projects within scope.
- Previous experience with service ticketing processes.
- Knowledge in fire, CCTV, intrusion, or emergency nurse call systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Valid US Driver’s license.
