Loudon County School Based Mental Health Liaison

About the role

The Loudon Co. School Based Masters Level Liaison position serves as the primary clinician that provides counseling/liaison services to a predetermined number of children/youth and families in the Loudon County School System. This role works alongside Loudon County Schools to create a trauma-informed school climate, provide consultation and training to staff, and deliver direct therapeutic mental health services to selected schools while providing linkage and coordination to additional wrap-around services.

Responsibilities

• Provides individual/family psychotherapy for children ages 4-21, ensuring sessions are attended as scheduled and communicating accurately and thoroughly with outside agencies.
• Completes diagnostic psycho-social assessments within 5 business days of contact, coordinating with the Assessment Team and Client Benefits.
• Ensures all family/client participation in treatment planning and updates treatment plans, crisis plans, consent to contact, DLA-20, and updated admissions signature page every 6 months.
• Attends weekly/biweekly treatment teams with school personnel and participates in IEP/504 meetings as applicable.
• Provides mental health assessments, advocacy, linkage, and referral services as needed, conducts group sessions with children and/or parents, and interfaces professionally with school personnel and other agencies.
• Conducts individual, family, and group counseling sessions, maintains appropriate chart records, and provides parent education.
• Coordinates scheduling and delivery of services with the Loudon County Clinic and Care Coordinators, and completes all documentation/reports in a timely manner.
• Works collaboratively with the treatment team to plan, implement, and evaluate successful interventions for children and families.
• Conducts 5 Tier I trainings with teachers each school year, reaching 80% of the teachers, and 3 Tier II psychoeducational trainings with students each school year, reaching 20% of the students.
• Conducts 50-60 individual sessions and 12-18 family sessions monthly.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Human Services or related field with coursework or experience in cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and mental retardation.
• Demonstrated knowledge and competency in mental health service provision and leadership.
• F endorsement on Driver License required for transportation of clients.
• One year experience preferred, but experience working with children is preferred.
• This person will either possess experience or training in the Re-Education Philosophy or will acquire such training in the course of employment.

Compensation

The starting salary for this position is approximately $52,274/yr based on relevant experience and education.

Schedule

The outpatient clinic is open from 8am-5pm. Position requires timely in-person attendance on a daily basis. School-based liaison would also follow the schedule of the school they are assigned. Family sessions would typically be in the evening hours. Weekly schedule must be flexible to meet the needs of the client, family, and school.

Travel

The position requires travel. You may be asked to transport clients in your personal vehicle during a crisis situation, for a family session, or to an appointment. An F endorsement is required for this position.

Equipment/Technology

Daily computer competency is required. Must be able to use Word and Excel programming proficiently, type and have basic computer knowledge, and use a scanner/printer and maintain professional phone etiquette.
