Long-Term Substitute Teacher
About the role
The Long-Term Substitute Teacher actively instructs students, creates lesson plans, assigns and grades homework, manages students in the classroom, communicates with families and helps prepare students for standardized tests.
Responsibilities
- Implement daily instruction based on lesson plans and curriculum for EL students.
- Provide language development support in small groups or co-taught settings.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and language proficiency.
- Adapt instructional strategies to meet diverse linguistic and academic needs.
- Communicate with families, staff, and school leadership to ensure continuity.
- Support assessments and interventions required by the EL program.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to support EL inclusion in content classes.
- Supervise students and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Attend professional development sessions as required.
Requirements
- Former experience in this field (Bachelor’s Degree).
- Valid State of Arizona “IVP” Fingerprint Clearance Card (or acquired prior to employment).
- Knowledge of child development concepts and practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Superior knowledge of education laws and regulations.
