About the role
In the absence of the classroom teacher, the Long-Term Substitute provides instruction, encourages student progress, and manages the learning environment. This position ensures continuity of learning by maintaining established routines, delivering engaging lessons, and fostering a safe and positive classroom atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Maintain established routines and procedures of the assigned school and classroom.
- Create and deliver lesson plans or follow those outlined by the absent teacher.
- Implement instructional strategies that promote quality academic and social development.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control in accordance with district policies.
- Create a learning environment conducive to growth, maturity, and student interests.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
- Demonstrate professional practices in teaching and classroom management.
- Model correct use of oral and written language.
- Protect school records, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report student injuries, illnesses, accidents, and disciplinary issues promptly.
- Assign reasonable tasks and homework to support learning goals.
- Remain at school during the entire day unless excused by administration.
- Maintain punctuality, reliability, and professional appearance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal or designated representative.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Massachusetts Licensure preferred.
- Proficiency in English (oral and written).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with school staff and administration.
- Prior teaching or substitute teaching experience preferred.

Pay
$285 per diem
