Long Term Substitute - Music Teacher

Under supervision of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal, teaches and instructs students in academic subject matter, along with social, behavioral, and other educational or related skill areas. Plans, develops, organizes, implements, and assesses a comprehensive educational program for students. Assists in other school programs as assigned. Creates a supportive and flexible program and environment conducive to learning and personal growth according to each student’s ability and interests. Encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

Position Specific Information

Meadow View Elementary is seeking a long-term substitute Music teacher for the 2026-27 school year. Qualified applicants must have music experience. Assignment dates: 9/7/26 - 12/11/26 (these dates are approximate and may change).

Responsibilities

  • Implement the teacher’s lesson plan in an environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Maintain and apply discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.

Requirements

  • Current Colorado Department of Education (CDE) Teaching License, or 5-Year Substitute Authorization.
  • Three (3) professional references, minimum of one (1) supervisor, including name, phone number, and email address for each reference (if not currently in DCSD Sub Pool).
  • Official transcripts (required for possible HQ verification).
  • Passing results for any PLACE or PRAXIS tests taken (required for possible HQ verification).
  • Bachelor’s Degree (required).

Skills

Ability to inspire a love of learning, set a positive example for students, and build relationships with teaching professionals.

Pay

Daily rate ranges from $100.00 USD to $200.00 USD, based on assignment and experience. All salary amounts are based on a full-time (1.0) FTE; part-time salaries will be prorated according to the assigned FTE.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Occasional lifting, five (5) to ten (10) pounds.
  • Frequent sitting and standing.
  • Occasional bending and squatting.

This position will remain open until filled but will not be open past September 4, 2026.
