  • About the role

    The Long Term Substitute Elementary Special Education Teacher will provide instruction in accordance with the Indiana Department of Education’s standards and guidelines for special education services. The teacher will work closely with students, parents, and other school staff to ensure that each student receives appropriate educational support.

  • Responsibilities

    • Provide individualized instruction to students with special needs based on their Individualized Education Program (IEP).
    • Collaborate with classroom teachers and other special education professionals to develop and implement effective teaching strategies.
    • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction as needed to meet individual student needs.
    • Participate in IEP meetings to discuss student progress and make recommendations for educational plans.
    • Adhere to all state and federal laws regarding special education, including those related to confidentiality and accommodations.

  • Requirements

    • A bachelor’s degree in special education or a related field.
    • Valid teaching license in special education from the Indiana Department of Education.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Qualifications

    • Knowledge of current special education methodologies and best practices.
    • Experience using technology to enhance teaching and learning.
    • Ability to manage a classroom effectively and maintain a positive learning environment.
