Job Summary
The Teacher of American Sign Language is responsible for providing instruction in American Sign Language and introducing students to deaf culture. They are expected to maintain a positive classroom environment and adhere to state and district policies.

JOB GOAL
To provide instruction in American Sign Language and introduce students to deaf culture while maintaining a positive classroom environment.
Performance Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Prepares for classes and shows written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required.
- Aids in the development of reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order.
- Assists in planning and supervising assignments for instructional assistants and volunteers.
- Strives to maintain and improve professional committees as required.
Terms of Employment
Ten (10) month position on Teacher's Lane with salary determined by the Superintendent. Exempt from FLSA.
Evaluation
Performance will be evaluated according to the Board's policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
