FY27: Long-Term Substitute Teacher, American Sign Language (ASL), Magruder HS, 0.6 FTE

About the role

Under direction of the school principal, plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students. Provides an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of individuals to ensure success for every student. Supervises students in a variety of school-related settings. Monitors and evaluates student outcomes. Communicates and interacts with students, parents, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

• Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students.
• Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices.
• Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Attend school meetings, programs, and activities outside the instructional day as mandated by MCEA contract.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in applicable field of education from an accredited college or university.
• Meets Maryland state certification requirements in the appropriate field of education.
• For foundation office programs: Secondary school diploma with at least five years of full-time industry experience in the discipline to be taught within the last 10 years, or a bachelor's degree in education with demonstrated industry experience.
• Industry licensures and/or industry certification preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of MCPS curriculum, techniques for integrating curriculum, MCPS policies, and effective instructional practices.
• Understanding of the teaching/learning process.
• Ability to provide instruction that reflects multiple perspectives and multicultural education.
• Ability to infuse technology into curriculum.
• Ability to work effectively with administrators, colleagues, central office and school-based staff, students, parents, and community.
• Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Pay

The wage range for this substitute position is between $20.95 and $37.00 per hour.

Schedule

• Position duration: to August 17, 2026.
• Part-time, day shift.
