About the role
Airbus Helicopters is seeking a Long-term Intern to join their Quality Engineering department based in Columbus, MS. The intern will support the Quality team by assisting with problem-solving, lean manufacturing, process improvement, innovation, and six sigma projects.
Responsibilities
- Project/Daily Support: 40%
- Process/Continuous Improvement: 40%
- Visual Management & Metrics: 10%
- 5S, Housekeeping & FOD Support: 10%
Requirements
- Must be currently local to the Starkville/Columbus, MS area
- High School diploma or equivalent experience and currently enrolled in Bachelor's Degree program for aerospace, engineering or manufacturing
- Some office work environment preferred
- Well organized and good time management skills
- Ability to use computers and associated software
- Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and G Suite
- AutoCAD and VBA proficiency are preferred
- Able to work in the US without a current or future need for visa sponsorship

Physical Requirements
- Onsite: 100%
- Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings. Required daily.
- Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds on production floor including safety warnings or alarms. Required daily.
- Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications. Required daily.
- Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment. Required daily.
- Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
- Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs. daily
- Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture and some equipment and tools. Rarely required.
- Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving. Required infrequently.
- Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices or on production floor. Required daily.
- Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice. Approximately 5% - 10%.
- Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces. Required daily.
- Personal Protective Equipment required: steel toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits; appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor
