About The Role
The Logistics Specialist – Dispatch is responsible for covering and tendering open truckloads through the customer’s procured carrier base. This role ensures efficient utilization of carrier capacity, equipment, and dock capacity while maintaining a strong focus on cost, service quality, and on-time delivery. Our LS Dispatcher serves as the key link between our carrier and warehouse operations while balancing operational execution with customer and business needs.
Responsibilities
- Review customer and transfer load schedules, preparing and working through a dynamic daily requirement of loads.
- Collaborate with multiple shipping locations and load planners to work through the needs of the market.
- Assign Less-than-Truckload carriers based on availability, cost, and service performance.
- Maintain accurate data and shipment details in the Transportation Management System (TMS) and ensure timely and efficient load execution.
- Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve any planning or capacity issues that could impact delivery schedules.
- Analyze transportation data to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational improvement.
- Communicate clearly with peers and stakeholders on our aligned goals of meeting performance expectations.
- Ensure compliance with Bayer’s logistics policies, safety standards, and all applicable DOT regulations.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to load optimization, carrier performance, and network efficiency.
- Participate in daily logistics meetings to review load execution status and forecast upcoming transportation needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in load planning, transportation coordination, or logistics operations or an undergraduate degree with no prior experience.
- Strong understanding of transportation planning, carrier scheduling, and route optimization.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in a related field.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or large-scale distribution network.
- Familiarity with SAP, FourKites, or other logistics planning and visibility tools.
- Knowledge of full truckload (FTL), less-than-truckload (LTL), and multimodal planning.
