About the role
Promote and sell the company’s transportation services to a wide variety of customers in the assigned territory. This position sells directly to customers and also manages the sales efforts to other transportation brokers.
Responsibilities
- Establish and execute a sales strategy that focuses on value selling to existing accounts and continuous development of new accounts within assigned territory.
- Pursue relationships with potential new accounts and identify business opportunities for current and new accounts.
- Develop relationships with customers and regularly communicate with them to understand their transportation needs.
- Analyze market trends and customer data to make informed decisions on pricing and services.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Drive retention and growth among customers by understanding their business needs and helping them succeed.
- Develop closing strategies and manage team-selling activities for proposals.
- Conduct technical sales presentations to customers, consultants, and contractors.
- Read, understand, and negotiate Terms and Conditions for orders.
- Meet target profitability goals with the assigned business unit.
- Attend regional and national industry association meetings and networking events to develop leads for new business.
- Manage costs for territory including all travel expenses, trade show spending, and customer give-aways.
- Attend sales training as required to develop skillset.
- Manage all customer contacts utilizing company’s CRM software management program.
- Submit weekly forecasts and quarterly updates to support GM/Business Unit Manager activities and company budget planning.
- Develop annual sales plans and expense budgets for the business unit and be an active participant in forecasting and open book management.
- Support marketing requests for website updates.
- Support GM/Business Unit Manager in high involvement planning bi-annually.
- Travel 50-70% of the time both flying and driving with possible international travel; must have the ability to obtain a passport.
- Regular, in-person attendance due to necessary teamwork and personal interactive nature of this position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Logistics, or other related field preferred.
- Two to five years’ experience selling transportation services is highly desired.
- Basic knowledge of transportation industry.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Ability to work within a flexible schedule and hours.
- Ability to work independently or in a team with the willingness to provide estimating support when needed.
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels.
- Self-starter and goal-oriented who will aggressively pursue sales order management and new customers.
- Excellent communication skills both orally and written with the ability to develop and deliver presentations.
- Ability to work well under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in parallel in a time-sensitive environment.
- Ability to efficiently and effectively utilize Microsoft Office.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a mechanical aptitude that allows for effective communication of the product to customers.

Pay
- Base Compensation Range: $63,736 - $99,691 annually.
- Variable Compensation Range: Incentive bonus eligibility up to 12% of gross annual salary based on company performance.
Schedule
Regular, in-person attendance with travel 50-70% of the time. Four-day work weeks and varied shifts may be available depending on position.
Work Environment
Professional office environment with some time spent in the manufacturing area. Exposure to conditions such as dust, fumes, noise, and high-degree varying seasonal temperatures. Machinery with energy sources including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, chemical, or other energy.
