About the Role
This position involves operating a powered pallet jack or similar equipment and using a radio frequency (RF) device to pick orders accurately and efficiently while maintaining a safe work environment. The role requires certification in both LTL and Ship Line picking and packing, with the flexibility to work in either area. A proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to change are essential.
Responsibilities
- Operate powered industrial trucks (PIT) and RF technology, including wearing a gladiator-type device.
- Pick orders accurately and timely, including:
- Stacking boxes onto pallets for optimal fit (pallet heights may reach 84 inches).
- Labeling pallets with the applicable movable unit (MU).
- Applying correct customer carton labels during the picking process.
- Solve problems related to picking issues and report repetitive errors to the Supervisor or Team Lead.
- Maintain a clean work environment in racks, aisles, and PIT locations.
- Immediately notify the Supervisor of any safety issues.
- Work flexibly between LTL and Ship Line order picking.
- Adhere to a work schedule of 8- or 10-hour days, plus overtime as required.
- Perform frequent and repetitive lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Communicate effectively and process international orders.
- Complete a one-day Train the Trainer class and maintain LTL and Ship Line picking certifications.
- Follow all safety guidelines and report violations promptly.
- Perform all other assigned duties.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous leadership experience preferred.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Train the Trainer certification or equivalent within three months of assignment.
- Goal-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure.
- Good judgment and ability to work independently with effective initiative.
- Certified in all pick types and proficient in shipping instructions for all pick types.
- Basic math and keyboard skills.
- Attention to detail to maintain 99.92% pick accuracy and a 95% efficiency rating.
- Safety-first mindset.
Physical Demands
- Frequently stoop, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds of material, boxes, etc.
- Close vision abilities, including reading handwritten or typed material and focusing.
