About the role
This role is initially offered as a temporary position through a staffing agency. Successful candidates who demonstrate strong performance and a good fit for the team may have the opportunity to convert to a full-time, direct employee after completing the contract period, subject to business needs.
The Logistics Operator position covers tasks in both our Shipping and Receiving departments. You will primarily focus on shipping parts back to customers according to specific packaging directions and ensure the accountability of orders sent to the facility from customers.
Responsibilities
- Review purchase orders or packing slip information to match customer details with received orders.
- Input information into Pentagon Technology’s MIS system.
- Ensure supplied parts within the purchase order/packing slip are received.
- Work with outside delivery vendors and understand basic shipping documentation.
- Inventory parts sent from the customer with attention to detail.
- Follow operating procedures to ensure consistent, reliable, and timely processing/packaging of parts.
- Use basic computer skills to work with MIS systems and peripheral hardware such as scanners and printers.
- Follow specific packaging instructions provided on a work order traveler.
- Generate packing labels and shippers using the company MIS system.
- Schedule pick-ups with shipping vendors via the internet or telephone.
- Maintain package-tracking information.
- Maintain and file all work order travelers with supporting documentation.
- Maintain organization and cleanliness of assigned areas.
- Adhere to all general safety requirements of Pentagon Technologies and specific safety regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Ability to read and comprehend internal and external documents such as work order travelers, inventory records, bills of lading, packing slips, logs, and general company records.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Appreciation for timeliness, quality, and punctuality.
- Forklift Certification highly desired.
Work Environment
- Must be able to function well in an office environment.
- Must be able to work in a controlled chemical and wastewater environment.
- Must be able to perform in a laboratory environment.
- Persons sensitive to chemical environments with medical conditions such as asthma, allergies, or extreme sensitivity to chemicals may not be suitable for this position.
Physical Demands
- Must pass company-required screening tests.
- Regularly required to sit and stand, reach with hands and arms, and perform light routine office work, including computer workstation usage.
- Should be able to pick up 50 lbs on an occasional or regular basis.
- Will regularly push or pull heavy loads (up to 750 lbs.) with basic material handling equipment.
